Professor (Dr.) Shakti Kumar is a dynamic computer Engineer with Vision of Technical Education. He did his M.S.(Electronics & Control) from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani and Ph.D. (Electronics and Computer Engg.) from National Institute of Technology (Formerly REC) Kurukshetra.
He has served as a faculty member in the department of Electronics and Computer Engineering, NIT Kurukshetra, Department of Computer Engineering, Atlim University, Ankara, Turkey and BITS Pilani, Dubai Centre, UAE.
Before taking over as Chairman Board of Governors, ISTK, he held various prestigious positions. He was Co-ordinator, Centre for Excellence in Reliability Engineering at REC (Now National Institute of Technology) Kurukshetra. He served as Director Jind Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jind. Director, Academy of Business and Engineering Sciences, Ghaziabad, Principal, Haryana Institute of Information Tehnology and Management and Additional Director, Haryana Engineering College, Jagadhri, Haryana.
Dr. Kumar was Conference Chair for four International Conferences on Intelligent Systems and networks (IISN-2010, IISN-2009, IISN-2008, IISN-2007), Asian Conference on Intelligent Systems and Networks AISN-2006, National Conference on Intelligent Systems and Networks, ISN-2004 and ISN-2005. He was member International Scientific Committee for the International multi-conference held in Greece. Dr Kumar was member of steering committee for the National Conference CODEC-98 held in NIT Jalandharn and National Conference on Rural Development held by Agra University, Agra. He Chaired Technical Sessions for a number of International/National Conferences. He has delivered more than 50 expert lectures in various universities and engineering Colleges including
Kurukshetra University, Bashkent University, Turkey, Atlim University,Turkey, Sant Longowal Instute of Engineering and Technology, Guru Jambheshwar University and National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar(Punjab), NIT Kurukshetra, Thapar University etc.
He successfully organized two one week Workshops on Applied Soft Computing, SOCO-2006 and SOCO-2005, a one week workshop on Circuits Simulation and Designing , a two day workshop on Biologically Inspired Computing (BIC-2003), at Haryana Engineering College, Jagadhri, a one day Workshop on Fuzzy Logic Technology at National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra. He also organized 6 National Level Technical Symposia for students.
He has published more than 135 research articles in various International/National journals and conferences. Four researchers have already completed their Ph.D. under his guidance and 6 more are working for their doctorate. He is member of various professional bodies such as IEEE and ISTE. He is also Director, Compuational Intelligence Laboratory (CI-Lab) , a research centre at the Institute of Science and Technology, Klawad. He is also Principal Investigator of a DRDO sponsored research project on Nanotechnology.The project is being implement at Centre for Excellence in Nanotechnology (CENT) at ISTK campus.
Dr. Kumar is actively engaged in industrial design and consultancy. He has successfully designed a Soft Computing based Prediction System for a UK based multinational firm. He has successfully designed and developed 3 security systems for Indian Industry.
Dr. Kumar was jointly awarded “Sir Thomas Ward Memorial” Subject Award for the paper titled, “Optimizing Handover Performance in Microcellular Systems” by The Institution of Engineers (India) Calcutta. The award was presented in 21st Indian Engineering Congress held in Guwahati Asam on 22nd Dec 2006. He was also awarded “Rashtriya Nirman Award (for contribution to National evelopment) ” by International Business Council, New Delhi, India, on 31st Jan, 2001 in New Delhi.
He was Nominated for “International Man of the year 1997-98″ Published by International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England, 1998. He was also Nominated for “Man of the year 2000″ by American Biographical Institute, Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.
Dr. Kumar is also a keen sportsman. He had won Bronze Medal in Throwing the Hammer in Indian Navy Athletics Championship. 1988-89.
